Bosh Blazin' Over The Suns

Chris Bosh put up a season high 35 points with 22 of them coming by halftime. Udonis held it down by banging the boards, he pulled down 10 rebounds. Lebron was just shy of another triple double, he had 20 points, 9 assists , and 8 rebounds. The team looked good overall and seemed to play with more cohesiveness. The Heat need to go on a run over the next few weeks, up next on Friday Is Charlotte, then Memphis Saturday followed by Indiana Monday.

Regular Season Is Here: Primetime Baby

The regular season kicks off tonight with the Heat matching up against the Boston Celtics. The Celtics were the last team labeled with ownership of the "Big 3", they were and still are; Kevin Garnet, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen. When the Celtics put all 3 players on their squad they had a great amount of publicity and hype surrounding them. They didn't wait long to capitalize on it, they won a championships in the first year together combining for more than 58 points per game.

Can the Heat do the same?

The over under on the Miami Heat trio is currently 69.5 points per game which is over 10 points more per game than the Boston trio averaged.

The Heat had a lackluster pre-season performance with Wade injuring his hamstring in the first game. They lost a few games here and there and they shuffled players in and out. Lebron looked good when he was healthy and he ran the floor most of the time. Bosh was consistent as well and seems strong. Tonight will be a great early test for the team and should provide more insight into the dynamics of the Heat.

Wade is set to play but how much time exactly we don't really know. We should see how agile Dwayne looks in warmups and the first couple minutes of the game. My guess is he is holding back a little publicly and will come to play tonight. Lebron James scoring total is at 27.5 points tonight by Vegas. If Bosh puts up another 20 points and Wade can get us at least 10-15 in limited playing time we should be just fine tonight. If Wade doesn't play much and our defense plays scattered rather than together, the Celtics could snake the game away.

With so much hype surrounding the Heat and Lebron, the season opener tonight will require the Heat to be at their best right at the tip off. The Celtics are already drawing up custom plays to limit our scoring. Doc Rivers is not going to let this game be a run away tonight and the Celtics big 3 will be looking to bump chests over court dominance. Alpha males will be abundant tonight as the showdown in Bo-town gets rolling.

Let's Go Heat. ....

All Eyez On We.....Pre-Season Histeria In Miami

Basketball fans worldwide are waiting for a glimpse of the Miami Heat, well, they'll get that look in their first pre-season game tonight. Probably one of the most hyped pre-season games of all time if not the most, this game should be more exciting than any we have seen in a long time. Although this game is just a warm up for the Heat it will be watched with scrutiny and debated across the world of basketball.

The question to be answered: How good is the new big 3.

Everyone wants to have something to say about the new super team here in Miami and they are craving for their chance to do that. Tonight will give everyone a chance to quench their thirst with a little South Beach treat, or downtown Miami treat depending on how local you are. Wade, James, and Bosh will need to be in sync immediately to avoid early criticisms, so expect a few highlight plays tonight.

Expect a defensive display tonight as the Heat are looking to assert its defensive dominance. I expect to see a few steals from Wade and James and few blocked shots from numerous people. Watch how inside matchups workout and how baseline defense is played, this will give early insight into the direction the team is going in preparation for the season opener vs Boston.

Desean Butler Signs With Heat

The Miami Heat signed their second round draft pick Desean Butler this week, the details of his contract were not yet released. Butler was injured in the Final Four last year and that injury gave the Heat a chance to take him in the second round of the draft before he was snatched up by anyone else. Butler, a 6’7”, 230-pound forward, played all four seasons at West Virginia University appearing in 146 games (110 starts) and averaged 14.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.06 steals while shooting 44.8 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from three-point range and 73.3 percent from the foul line.

Butler tore his ACL in the Final Four tournament earlier this year and if it weren't for that injury he would have been a first round draft pick and maybe even a top 5-10 pick. He left West Virginia as the winningest player in school history. The Heat are hoping that he rebounds quickly and comes right back to top playing form so he can help aid the Heat in their pursuit of another title or titles depending on how optimistic you are. Butler will be competing for the Heat's 15th starting roster position. We wish him luck, go Heat!

Will The Real Dexter Pittman Please Stand-Out

Lately there has been much talk about the center position for the Miami Heat. Comparisons have flown around with the Lakers who have Bynum and the Celtics who now have Shaq in addition to their big three. What about Dexter Pittman though? He is the man who is not spoke about much but could potentially be a diamond in the rough.

Pittman came into Texas weighing 400 pounds and by the end of his time there he had lost nearly 100, he weighs about 320 pounds currently. Pittman struggled a little in the summer league averaging just under 10 points per game, so technically there is no reason to be gushing over his play. We see something in his potential however that could bring him up the depth chart quickly if he can just focus in on using his size more efficiently. Heat critics already think that Bynum will push around Anthony and big Z, although that won't be easy they give Bynum the upper hand as of now. So lets say we do need more size inside, Dexter Pittman brings a lot of potential weight and now muscle that could be used to our advantage in the right situations. Spoelstra and Riley have to see this in Pittman as well because although he hasn't been mentioned much he looks to be a big part of the Heat's underlying plan over the next few years. That plan includes championships for sure, but it requires depth that is practically useable throughout the year and into the playoffs. Pittman gives that further depth to the Miami Heat, keep an eye on him by midseason as he will definitely see playing time.

Jeff Van Gundy Goes Nuts For Miami Heat

Jeff Van Gundy, aka "I like to cling to the leg of Alonzo Mourning and assume a mop like position", is making strong statements of opinion on the Miami Heat. Not surprising with all the new hype surrounding the Heat, but still funny to hear Van Gundy talking about the Miami Heat so positively after his history with the team.

Here is what he said.

“They will break the single-season win record (72 – Set by the Chicago Bulls),” And I think they have a legit shot at the Lakers’ 33-game (winning) streak (71-72 season), as well. And only the Lakers have even a remote shot at beating them in a playoff series … They will never lose two games in a row this year. They have put together a much better roster than anybody could ever have expected. There is now no good way to defend them. They are unguardable. They are indefensible. They are just too good and have added so much shooting and are so versatile that they will score at will. And with  Erik Spoelstra coaching, they will be in the top three defensive teams in the league, as well. The other 29 teams better hope the lockout gets moved up a year.”

Lebron Criticism Overdone

The hating on Lebron James has gone on now for over a month and it continues to take new shape every week, day, even minute. We knew that "the decision" would cause some controversy but the "hater-ade" has been consumed in as many forms as gatorade now has products. So Lebron left Cleveland and came to Miami, oh well it's a done deal, next up the regular season in about 10 weeks. The criticism will soon shift to how well Lebron fits in as a team-player. Heat fans know his role as a team player and facilitator will not be a problem, it will be one of his strong points actually. As the off-season produces hyped up stories about James, the regular season is sure to see him bring a new meaning to hype as the Heat dominate through out the year.

Miami Heat To Play Boston Celtics In Season Opener

The Heat will play the Celtics in the opening game of the 2010-11 season in Boston at the TD Garden. The game is set to be aired on TNT.

This match up will be a great way to open up the NBA season and to see the new big three play against some quality competition right out of the gates. The Boston Celtics changed the game when they formed their own "Big Three" a few years back, quickly winning a championship in the process. Now Dwyane Wade, Lebron James, and Chris Bosh have stolen all the focus and rightfully so. This game should see some tremendous defense and some superb matchups. I can't wait for the Heat to roll in the Celtics.

Guard Position: Whose Next ? 13 Spots Filled, 2 Left...

The Heat have quickly filled out their roster over the past two weeks and now have 13 spots filled. We can only offer a minimum at this point of about $1.3 million per year, so whoever comes will most likely take a pay cut.
The last two spots continue to center around the point guard position and maybe even another center. The point guard names have been all over the board, but in case you have been in a cave the past month we will list them for you.

Potential Guards For Miami Heat

Jason Williams (good chance; history with Heat, existing player relationships)

Eddie House (good option, history with Heat)

Allen Iverson (interesting, but probably not)

Rasoul Butler (not a bad choice either, history with Heat)

Earl Watson (we think not needed)

Larry Hughes (scores well, good friends with Lebron)

Kenny Hasbrouck (in-house, has potential)

Patrick Beverly (in-house, down on the list)

Desean Butler (plays guard, but if Riley sees potential he could stay and transition)

Heat Beat Cavs In Summer League Play Last Night

The Heat played the Cavaliers last night in Vegas in summer league ball. The Heat came into the night 3-1 and ended 4-1, with a victory over the Cavs 73-69. The Heat played 5 games out west and took 4. Dexter Pittman looked steady throughout the series. He seems to be the only one plaing summer ball who will make the Heat's roster.

Juwan Howard Expected To Sign With Heat

Juwan Howard is expected to sign with the Miami Heat for the veterans minimum of 1.3 million per year. Howard is just the latest well known name to jump on the Heat express in hopes of snatching up a championship ring.

Ankle Report: Chalmers Out For A Few Weeks

Mario Chalmers will miss as much as 4-5 weeks as he recovers from an ankle injury just a few days ago. The injury seems to be down-played a little so we hope it is with good reason because Chalmers could be a good fit with the new big 3 in Miami.

Tracy McGrady, Raja Bell, Matt Barnes Being Considered For Heat

Rumors have been flying around the Miami Heat constantly lately and they all seem to be true. Currently there are reports that Rajah Bell, Matt Barnes, and Tracy McGrady could be considerations for the Heat.

McGrady is rumored to have said he would come to Miami for the veterans minimum. Rajah Bell grew up in Miami and went toMiami Killian High, he could be genuinely interested in making a deal. Matt Barnes has been mentioned as someone the Heat are interested in and could have potentially spoken with already.

Ilgauskas To Join Heat, Following Lebron To Miami

Zydrunas Ilgauskas wants in on the fun in Miami, at least that looks like what he wants, as he is on the verge of signing with the Miami Heat. Ilgauskas is expected to take the veterans minimum in order to sign with the Heat. The Heat already drafted Dexter Pittman in the second round this year, and he is an absolute giant who gives the Heat instant strength and size to go against the power centers in the NBA. This would be a welcomed addition to the team and create depth at center almost instantly.

This news follows the day after we found at that Mike Miller was coming to Miami, along with Udonis Haslem resigning with the organization after a 2 million dollar salary cut.

Lebron, Wade, Bosh Team Up In Miami

Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh are the super-trio now in Miami. The Miami heat made a power move when these three decided to sign. This years team will be unlike anything we have ever seen before in the NBA.
